Old North Church, Boston

Old South Church, Boston is also known as Christ Church in the Boston city. The church was founded in the year 1723 and it is the oldest remaining building in the city of Boston. The history of Old North Church, Boston should include its glorious role in America's war of independence. During the days of America's War of independence the sexton of the church Robert Newman climbed up the steeple of the church and put two lanterns on it. This was a signal to the revolutionaries which meant that the Britishers were approaching towards Concord and Lexington by ship not by land.

This church was involved in the freedom struggle of America. The clergymen of Old North Church, Boston even gave support to the American war of independence by giving necessary support.

But it is interesting to note that at the time of America's war of independence most of the congregation of the church were supporters of British crown. The church even received special attention from the King of England. The king gave this church its silver and a bible.

Presently this church is run by Old North Foundation a non-profit, secular organization entirely devoted for the conservation of Old North church. The foundation has taken a programme for catering educational programmes to the students and visitors.

Congregation of Old North Church, Boston: Everyone whether member or a visitor in the church can pray in this church. The services of Old North Church, Boston are held on every Sunday on 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. The first service is right to Eucharist without the accompaniment of music and the second service is the principal Sunday service. It is also Rite to Eucharist service with the choir. The service is followed by coffee hour. Nursery care of an hour is available from September to May. Service at the church is often visited by the visiting choirs. The guests are always welcome to take part in the prayer in Old North Church, Boston.
