The first mayor of Boston was John Phillips and served from 1882 to 1883. The second mayor of Boston was Josiah Quincy III who was one of the popular mayors of Boston. He served from 1823 to 1845. He was also the president of Harvard University. He was a popular personality in his time. The Quincy Market in Boston was named after him.
